About us
Seattle2PT.com was launched in support of the new Passenger-only service between Port Townsend and Pier 50 in Downtown Seattle.
The intention of this website is to provide a place for people who want the passenger-only service, to connect with each other, unify and send a clear message to the Washington State Ferries and the state of Washington that the Passenger-only run between Port Townsend and Downtown Seattle must be kept The website offers relevant news, an online petition, a blog, a place to share your story about the passenger-only ferry and a place to connect with other ferry riders.
Impact
The economic impact that this ferry can have locally whether it is tourism, real estate, or just the money inserted into the local economy could support the community with living wage jobs. A mass-transit option from Port Townsend to Seattle also has a substantial environmental impact reducing the carbon emissions produced by cars.
The ferry is scheduled to run from 12/14 through 1/8. There is no public plan to continue that service after the eighth of January. The goal of the website is to cement the ferry service indefinitely. The best way to accomplish this is to virtually assemble the people that will use the service and to use that momentum to lobby for a long term passenger only service.
The ferry crossing time is 90 minutes, to drive from Port Townsend to downtown Seattle is 2.5 hours. That travel time by car can be reduced to 150 minutes by taking one of the other ferries (Bainbridge or Kingston).
